UTILITY LINE LOCATOR CERTIFICATION
(2-DAYS, ON-SITE & OFF-SITE)
This two-day utility line locator certification training program for both professional locators and new locators is tailored to meet the requirements recommended by the PHMSA (DOT) for utility line locators.
BASIC UTILITY LINE LOCATOR TRAINING
(1-DAY, ON-SITE & OFF-SITE)
This intensive one-day (8-hour) non-certification utility line locating training is designed for every utility locator who needs a deeper understanding of the science and art of locating sub-surface utilities.
UTILITY LINE LOCATOR CERTIFICATION

Utility Line Locator Certification Training Objectives:
This two-day utility line locator certification training program for both professional locators and new locators is tailored to meet the requirements recommended by the PHMSA (DOT) for utility line locators. The course provides participants a more complete understanding of electromagnetic utility locating and a deeper level of underground infrastructure protection. This locator training course addresses section four of the Common Ground Alliance Best Practices.
What to Expect:
The utility line locator training consists of 35% classroom and 65% hands-on field training.
– The classroom segment is focused on science and theory allowing the participants a deeper understanding of how the instruments function.
– Field examples become increasingly more challenging. Complex, congested line locating techniques are discussed and employed.
Written and hands-on tests are used to gauge competency. Certification will be awarded to students who pass the hands-on test and score over 84% on the written tests.

*Participants should bring their own instruments unless other arrangements are made.
*Participants should be prepared for all weather conditions.

BASIC UTILITY LINE LOCATOR TRAINING
(1-DAY, ON-SITE & OFF-SITE)
Basic Line Locator Course Training Objectives:
This intensive one-day (8-hour) non-certification utility line locating training is designed for every utility locator who needs a deeper understanding of the science and art of locating sub-surface utilities.
What to Expect:
The course is 50% classroom and 50% hands-on field training. Experienced and beginner line locators alike will greatly benefit from this course. Command of the line locating instrument is the focus of the course.
-The morning session is focused on theory and the science of how the instruments work.
-Various field examples are laid out to challenge and test new skills. Intuitive Quick Reference Manuals are provided with the training as a simple reference to insure proper locates in the field.
Challenging written tests are used to gauge understanding and Certificates of Completion will be awarded to students scoring 80% or better.
Notes:
*Participants should bring their own instruments unless other arrangements are made but we prefer to train participants on the instruments they use in the field.
*Participants should also prepare for all weather conditions.
